General tips:
Reading
- Slow down - it helps to make your pronunciation clearer and allows you to sound more epxressive. If you read too fast, the marks for all 3 areas will be reduced.
- Watch pronunciation of word endings - eg "children" not "chilren" or "chilrens", past tense - be clearer
- Your tone should not always be going up: Normally goes up for questions. Otherwise maintain or go down. Practice practice practice and listen to yourself

Picture Discussion
- What is the overall? - activity, event, place
- is it a candid/posed
- Feelings/Thoughts of people - vary - happy/sad/angry with other words - look at your vocabulary enrichment booklet for egs of other words
- Explain why or give reasons for your description
- describe one or two characters in detail
- the photographer's intention for taking photo is possibly to....eg highlight the plight of the elderly?
- what was possibly happening before pic was taken/likely to happen after pic is taken
- remember to guide examiner - foreground, background, main/central focus of pic is on...?

Conversation:
- it most likely is related to pic given or reading passage - try to think about the topic before u are called up
- stay focused on topic given
- talk about it on different levels - universal problem? national problem? family? individual level? personal experience is important.
- Even if you don't have any experience - don't just say I don't know - try to related someone else's experience
- justify what you say - don't make sweeping remarks
- you can ask the examiner to repeat or rephrase the question,but try to avoid if possible.

Practice using the 2006 papers i passed u.

Above all this, try to remain calm and confident,

It is National Day today and it is happy birthday to Singapore!!! Also, the poll results are out. In first place, we have Splat Paint Askari, that will take over the animation tomorrow. Second place with have Font Designer Askari and sharing the third place we have Combined Askari and the Animation version without the words, leaving the other two undesired. Alright, it is the 9th of August tomorrow and the day the results of the voting wwill be released! People who have yet to vote yet please go to the PollCenter link under Others to vote. The new picture will be chosen according to the votes. The Splat Paint Askari is winning as of now. Asides that, according to Joshua post in the Cbox, Shawn is returning to Singapore. So if you want to meet up with him or something, talk to Joshua directly. The Friday's extra class for Chem is for pure students only and there is a chem mock exam the coming Tuesday and that wraps up this post.

on the 2nd of aug... this are the happy askaris^^

Alright. With the new blog animation in place, we shall begin the voting for the new class blog picture. Above in the animation, there are a total of five pictures to vote for. The first being the Caveman Askari, followed by the Global Askari, then the Font Designer Askari, there after is the Paint Splat Askari and finally, the Combined Askari. Take your pick and vote in the Cbox for now while a poll is being set up.

Edit : Go to http://poll-center.blogspot.com/ and vote for your favourite picture to become the new blog's main picture. (Edited at 10:13 pm)

Edit : The second poll should now be operational. Vote on only one of them. The second poll gives you the choice of the same animation but without the wordings.
